About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Evening/Night Industrial Cleaner to join our Hygiene Team within a busy fresh-produce packing facility.
This is a hands-on industrial cleaning role involving the deep cleaning of production areas, packing equipment and machinery after production has finished.
You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety, ensuring production areas and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and ready for the next shift.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Deep cleaning production and packing areas
- Cleaning and sanitising conveyor belts, frames and equipment
- Cleaning underneath and behind machinery
- Deep cleaning production machinery and equipment
- Cleaning cooling units and accessible external surfaces
- Sweeping, scrubbing and washing production floors
- Cleaning walls, doors and wall/floor junctions
- Cleaning strip curtains
- Cleaning conduits, pipework and accessible high-level surfaces
- Cleaning guards, framework and equipment supports
- Removing fruit debris, packaging and production waste
- Cleaning drains and surrounding areas where required
- Cleaning difficult-to-access areas as part of the scheduled deep-cleaning programme
- Using cleaning chemicals at the correct concentrations
- Using industrial cleaning equipment safely and correctly
- Following site colour-coding, chemical-control and COSHH procedures
- Following cleaning instructions for machinery and production areas
- Completing cleaning records accurately
- Reporting damaged equipment, hygiene concerns, pest activity and maintenance issues
- Supporting other members of the Hygiene Team when required
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Be reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Have a good standard of cleanliness and attention to detail
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be willing to clean machinery and difficult-to-access areas
- Be able to follow written cleaning instructions
- Understand the importance of food hygiene and food safety
- Be willing to use cleaning chemicals and industrial cleaning equipment
- Be comfortable working in a fresh-produce factory environment, including cool/refrigerated areas
- Be able to complete cleaning documentation accurately
Previous experience in food factory cleaning, industrial cleaning, hygiene, production or warehouse cleaning would be an advantage, but full training will be provided.
Important – This Is an Industrial Cleaning Role
This is not a general office-cleaning position.
The role involves physical industrial cleaning of:
- Conveyor belts and machinery
- Production floors and walls
- Cooling units
- Strip curtains
- Conduits and pipework
- Equipment frames and guards
- Areas underneath and behind production machinery
The work may involve wet cleaning, bending, reaching and moving cleaning equipment.
Food Safety, Hygiene & Health and Safety
All Hygiene Team members are required to follow:
- Site hygiene rules
- Cleaning schedules and cleaning instructions
- COSHH and chemical dilution requirements
- PPE requirements
- Colour-coded cleaning equipment procedures
- Food safety procedures
- Health & safety requirements
Full site-specific hygiene, cleaning, chemical and equipment training will be provided before independent cleaning duties are undertaken.
Working Hours
Evening/Night Shift: 6:00pm – 2:00am
The main deep-cleaning programme begins once production areas and machinery become available for cleaning.
