Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Night Driver working Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating refrigerated lorries to deliver goods efficiently across designated routes. This role requires a professional approach to driving, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional service.
This role is based on starting at 20:00hrs finishing around 07:00hrs delivering & collecting foodstuffs from RDC’s.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate refrigerated lorries for the transportation of goods to various locations, adhering strictly to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Conduct pre-journey inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition and report any issues promptly.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes, ensuring timely deliveries whilst maintaining safety standards.
- Load and unload goods with care, ensuring items are secured properly during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays.
- Comply with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and driving legislation at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) driving licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with refrigerated lorries & double deckers.
- Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and road safety regulations.
- Experience with commercial driving routes and delivery schedules is highly desirable.
- Ability to work early morning shifts and manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail for vehicle checks and record keeping.
