Full Time | Permanent | Salary: £35,412–£39,152 per annum (dependent on experience), with progression within the band.
Location: Home-based (equipment provided), with regular travel across Devon, including on-farm visits, and occasional attendance at our Bideford office

Make a real difference to Devon’s farming businesses
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Agricultural Business Advisor to join our delivery team at ND+ (North Devon+).
This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you will work directly with farm businesses across Devon—helping them navigate change, access funding, and build more sustainable, resilient futures.
You will provide practical, tailored support that delivers measurable outcomes—from initial advice through to implementation.
Alongside funded programme delivery, you will also contribute to the development and delivery of ND+’s agricultural services over time.
About ND+
Established in 2008, ND+ is a not-for-profit economic development company owned jointly by North Devon and Torridge District Councils.
We deliver business support programmes across Devon and the wider region, working closely with local authorities, regional partners, and the private sector to support business growth, resilience, and sustainable economic development.
We have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, practical support and have built trusted relationships across the agricultural and rural sector.
You will be joining a small, experienced, and collaborative team, focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for businesses.
About the role
As a Business Advisor, you will:
- Deliver one-to-one business support to farm businesses across Devon
- Support clients with business planning, financial decision-making, and growth opportunities
- Provide guidance on funding and grant programmes (including Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive)
- Support clients from initial engagement through to implementation and measurable outcomes
- Identify opportunities to enhance support to clients, including where additional support may be appropriate
- Contribute to the development and delivery of ND+’s agricultural service offer
- Maintain accurate records and reporting to meet programme and contractual requirements
- Deliver workshops, webinars, and events, and represent ND+ at agricultural shows and sector events
- Build relationships with partners including Natural England and other key stakeholders
This is primarily a client-facing delivery role, with opportunities to contribute to service development over time.
Commercial activity forms part of the role, supporting the development and delivery of ND+’s services and responding to client need.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience advising farm or rural businesses
- Has a good understanding of agricultural policy, funding, and support programmes
- Is confident working directly with clients and building trusted relationships
- Can manage a varied workload and deliver to deadlines
- Is comfortable using digital tools, CRM systems, and reporting platforms
- Is self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a team
- Has excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Holds a relevant qualification or has equivalent experience
- Is able to travel across Devon as required
You may currently be working as an agricultural advisor, consultant, farm business manager, or within a rural support organisation or agricultural supply chain role.
Desirable:
- Relevant professional memberships or qualifications (e.g. FACTS, BASIS)
