About GR Electrical Services
GR Electrical Services Ltd is a well-established UK manufacturer of low-voltage switchboards and power distribution equipment.
We design and manufacture bespoke switchboards for a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Inventor Design Engineer to join our engineering team.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing the copper busbar systems used within our low-voltage switchboards.
Using Autodesk Inventor, you will produce accurate 3D models and manufacturing drawings for copper busbar assemblies, ensuring that designs are practical, efficient and suitable for manufacture.
This is a hands-on engineering role that involves working closely with our electrical design, project engineering and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design copper busbar systems for low-voltage switchboards using Autodesk Inventor.
- Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
- Design busbar arrangements around switchgear, enclosures and cable connections.
- Ensure correct electrical clearances, creepage distances, phase spacing and mechanical support.
- Produce accurate drawings for copper punching, bending and manufacturing.
- Prepare bills of materials and relevant production information.
- Review switchboard layouts, single-line diagrams and technical specifications.
- Work closely with project engineers and the production team to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Improve standard designs, manufacturing methods and drawing processes
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong experience using Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings.
- A good understanding of mechanical design and fabrication.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
- Good attention to detail and a practical approach to design.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Copper busbar design or manufacture.
- Low-voltage switchboards, control panels or power distribution equipment.
- Sheet metal design
- CNC punching, copper bending or manufacturing machinery.
Previous switchgear or busbar experience would be beneficial, but applications are also welcomed from strong Inventor designers with transferable experience from sheet metal, fabrication, machinery, automotive or manufacturing environments.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, based at our manufacturing facility in Sherburn in Elmet.
This is primarily an office and factory-based role due to the close interaction required with our manufacturing and assembly teams.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
