Residential Support Worker
Location: Tewkesbury
Salary: £31,240 – £33,000 per year + additional sleep-in payments
Hours: Full-time, rota-based shifts (evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins. 2-on 4-off - x5 sleeps per month)

We’re recruiting a Residential Support Worker to support children and young people who may have experienced trauma, loss, or instability. This is a hands-on, emotionally demanding role—but also one where you can have a lasting, positive impact by providing consistency, safety, and care every day.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care, guidance, and emotional support in a warm, homely setting
- Build trusting relationships that help children feel safe, valued, and understood
- Support education and learning routines at home and in partnership with schools
- Encourage independence and life skills (daily routines, choices, responsibilities)
- Respond to challenging behaviour calmly and consistently, using therapeutic approaches
- Contribute to care plans, complete accurate records, and follow statutory requirements
- Work with families, social workers, and other professionals to support each child’s journey
- Participate in training, team meetings, supervision, and reflective practice
- Use safe physical intervention only when required to prevent harm (full training provided)
Requirements
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent)
- Willingness to undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held)
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work a rota including sleep-ins, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience in residential childcare, social care, youth work, or fostering environments
- Qualifications in social care, child development, or related fields
- Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic care
- Training in safeguarding, first aid, or behaviour support
