Production Manager – Furniture Manufacturing
Location: Crewkerne, Somerset
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 DOE

We’re working with an established and growing furniture business looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day manufacturing operation.
This is a hands-on management position for somebody who understands how to run a busy production environment, manage people effectively and make sure work moves through the factory efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.
The business produces high-quality furniture for a varied customer base, with projects requiring a combination of strong manufacturing processes, skilled people and careful production planning.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for overseeing the production operation from planning through to completion, working closely with other departments to ensure projects move smoothly through manufacture.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing and developing the production team
- Planning workloads, labour and production capacity
- Ensuring manufacturing schedules and deadlines are achieved
- Monitoring workflow through different stages of production
- Maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship
- Identifying bottlenecks and resolving production issues
- Improving processes, productivity and efficiency
- Managing performance and maintaining accountability across the team
- Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed
- Working closely with design, procurement, project and commercial teams
- Supporting recruitment, training and development within production
- Providing clear reporting on production performance, capacity and potential risks
About You
We’re looking for an experienced manufacturing professional who is comfortable taking genuine ownership of a production environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Factory Manager, Operations Manager or similar
- Experience within furniture, joinery or a related manufacturing environment
- Strong people-management experience, including managing and developing production teams
- A good understanding of production planning, scheduling and capacity management
- Experience improving manufacturing processes and operational efficiency
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to react quickly when production issues arise
- A quality-focused approach, particularly within a product-led manufacturing environment
- The confidence to work across departments and communicate effectively with senior management
Experience within furniture manufacturing would be particularly advantageous, although we’re also interested in speaking with strong production managers from closely related manufacturing sectors.
