Job Summary
Following 11 successful years of delivering high-quality childcare and early education in Luton, Kinder City is excited to be opening a brand-new nursery, Kinder City Parkway, located close to Luton DART Station. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nursery Manager to lead this exciting new setting from its launch and play a key role in its future success.
As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care, learning, and development for all children. You will create a safe, inspiring, and inclusive environment where children can thrive, while ensuring the nursery delivers outstanding early years education in line with the EYFS Statutory Framework.
You will lead, motivate, and support a dedicated staff team, driving continuous improvement and maintaining strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals. The successful candidate will ensure the nursery operates in full compliance with EYFS requirements, safeguarding legislation, Ofsted expectations, and all relevant policies and procedures.
Job Description
Children and Education
- Ensure the delivery of outstanding early years education and care in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and stimulating environment that enables all children to thrive and achieve their full potential.
- Lead the implementation of a broad, balanced, and ambitious curriculum that reflects children's interests, needs, and stages of development.
- Monitor and evaluate children's learning and progress, ensuring effective assessment, planning, and targeted support.
- Develop strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals to promote positive outcomes for every child.
Safeguarding, Health and Safety
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), taking overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection within the setting.
- Ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed effectively and in accordance with statutory guidance, local procedures, and nursery policies.
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure all staff understand and fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children, staff, families, and visitors at all times.
- Maintain robust risk assessments, policies, and procedures to provide a safe, secure, and compliant environment.
- Ensure full compliance with E.Y.FS. requirements, Ofsted standards, safeguarding legislation, and all relevant regulatory and local authority guidance.
Leadership and Staff Management
- Provide strong, visible leadership and strategic direction to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the nursery.
- Lead, motivate and inspire a high-performing team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability and professional respect.
- Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision, performance management and succession planning to ensure a skilled and sustainable workforce.
- Ensure all staff receive regular supervision, coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance practice and improve outcomes for children.
- Promote staff wellbeing, engagement and retention through effective communication and supportive leadership.
- Ensure staffing levels, qualifications and deployment meet statutory requirements and the needs of the setting.
- Model exemplary professional practice and uphold the nursery's values, policies and procedures at all times.
Health and Safety
- Ensure the health, safety, welfare and well-being of all children, staff, families and visitors.
- Maintain effective risk assessments, policies, procedures and monitoring systems to provide a safe, secure and compliant environment.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, the EYFS Statutory Framework and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Lead on health and safety audits, incident reporting and investigations, ensuring appropriate actions are implemented and monitored.
- Ensure premises, equipment and resources are safe, well maintained and fit for purpose.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture, ensuring staff understand and fulfil their responsibilities.
- Monitor and review health and safety practices to support continuous improvement and minimise risk across the setting.
Finance
- To Achieve agreed occupancy and funded child headcount targets.
- Ensure local authority funding claims are submitted accurately and within required deadlines.
- Raise and administer monthly parent invoices accurately and on time, ensuring effective fee collection and maintaining accurate financial records.
Operational
Marketing and Customer Care
- Ensure the nursery operates efficiently and effectively, delivering high standards of care and education.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, policies, procedures and regulatory standards.
- Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement to enhance the quality of provision and outcomes for children and families.
General
- Responsible for all administrative duties associated with the nursery.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Director.

Applicants must hold a full and relevant Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above and have a minimum of two years’ experience in a leadership or management role within an early years setting. A thorough understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding responsibilities, and the ability to lead a high-performing team are essential.
Pay: £32,500.00-£40,000.00 per year
