Overview
We are looking for a talented and driven payroll professional with 2-4 years experience to join our high-volume payroll function and grow with our rapidly scaling, dynamic business. We are seeking a Payroll assistant to join a fast-expanding organisation, processing weekly and monthly payroll for ~750 employees.
Main Duties of the Role:
- Process end-to-end payroll for ~750 employees in conjunction with the payroll manager and operations managers across 16 operational depots, split:
- Weekly payroll for ~650 employees (primarily drivers & engineers) and monthly payroll
- Monthly payroll for ~100 office staff
- Pension administration via Nest
- Manage payroll queries and liaise with stakeholders
- Wider payroll administration including starters & leavers processing, pay increases, employee loans etc.
Person Specification:
- Experienced in high-volume payroll, ideally including weekly and hourly-paid employees
- Confident managing a high volume of payroll queries and stakeholder relationships
- Able to work independently, take ownership, and adapt in a growing business
- Bonus: experience in transport, logistics, operational environments, payroll system implementation, or HR support
- Calm and logical under pressure, with strong attention to detail
- Confident using basic office tools (word, excel basics)
- Comfortable working with digital systems and online platforms
- Able to communicate clearly in writing and by telephone
- Organised and capable of managing both reactive and planned work
