Duties
- Offer personalised mentoring to children and young people, encouraging their personal development and self-esteem
- Assist with daily activities, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those supported
- Support educational activities, helping children with homework and learning tasks
- Organise engaging activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and confidence
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to deliver holistic support programmes
- Maintain accurate records of progress and activities, adhering to organisational policies
- Foster an inclusive environment that respects individual needs and promotes positive behaviour
- Contribute to safeguarding procedures by recognising signs of distress or abuse and reporting concerns appropriately
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people is highly desirable
- Skills in mentoring, teaching, or supporting individuals with diverse needs are advantageous
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others’ development
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Relevant qualifications or training in childcare, education, or social care are beneficial but not essential
- A commitment to safeguarding principles and maintaining confidentiality
