OEG Group is looking for a Systems Integration Engineer to join our OEG Offshore Technology team in Aberdeen.
This is a hands-on engineering role working across the design, build, integration, testing, installation and support of specialist radio communication, CCTV, Metocean and other offshore technology systems.
Working with engineering, project and operational teams, you will help develop reliable communication and technology solutions to customer specifications, supporting projects from initial design and system build through to testing, commissioning and ongoing operational support.
The Role
As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will work across hardware, software, networking and communications technologies to deliver integrated systems for offshore and renewable-energy applications.
The position combines practical engineering and system build activities with troubleshooting, technical documentation and customer support. You will also contribute to tender and project activities and, where required, support installation and commissioning activities on-site and offshore.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, building and configuring integrated communication and offshore technology systems to customer specifications.
- Supporting the integration of radio communications, CCTV, Metocean, networking and associated technology systems.
- Building and configuring hardware, software and network components in accordance with engineering designs.
- Conducting system integration, functional testing, verification and fault-finding before deployment.
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues across equipment, networks and communication systems.
- Configuring and supporting IP networks, networked devices and firewall settings.
- Producing system schematics, technical reports, installation documentation, test records and engineering document packs.
- Supporting system installation, commissioning and integration activities both onshore and offshore.
- Providing technical support during deployment, operation and maintenance.
- Working closely with engineering, project, commercial and operational teams to develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Contributing technical information to tender and bid responses.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with OEG Group HSEQ, quality and information-security requirements.
Radio & Communications Systems
Radio and wireless communications form an important part of the systems delivered by the team.
The successful candidate will support the build, configuration, integration and testing of radio communication systems, ensuring that radio equipment operates effectively alongside IP networks, CCTV, Metocean equipment and other offshore technologies.
The role will suit someone who understands, or is keen to develop their knowledge of, wireless communication standards and technologies and who can apply a structured engineering approach to diagnosing communication, connectivity and integration issues.
Experience working with radio or other wireless communication systems in offshore, marine, renewables or similarly demanding operational environments would be particularly valuable.
About You
We are looking for a practical and technically capable engineer who enjoys building systems, solving problems and working across multiple engineering technologies.
Ideally, you will have:
- A Level 3 qualification in an IT, networking, electronics, communications or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in systems integration, communications, networking, electronics or a similar technical engineering role.
- Strong practical experience in equipment build, configuration, system testing and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of IP networking, network configuration and firewall management.
- An understanding of radio, wireless communications or associated communication technologies.
- Experience integrating hardware, software and network components into complete operational systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience producing technical documentation, system diagrams, installation guides and reports.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and project teams.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity and information-security best practices.
Experience within offshore, marine, renewable energy or other industrial environments would be advantageous, as would previous offshore working experience and experience working at height.
