Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing food and beverages, and ensuring the smooth operation of the café. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within the hospitality industry.
Duties
- Greeting customers warmly and taking their orders with professionalism and courtesy
- Preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks
- Assisting with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, and snacks
- Ensuring all food safety standards are maintained at all times
- Serving customers efficiently whilst maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Handling cash transactions accurately using the till system
- Keeping the café clean and organised, including clearing tables and cleaning work surfaces
- Restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
- Assisting with opening and closing procedures of the café
Experience
- Previous barista experience or experience working in a food service environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous
- Experience in serving customers with excellent communication skills
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
- Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
- Previous Baking Experience Desirable
