We are looking for a reliable and professional SIA Licensed Security Officer / Door Supervisor to support a temporary summer school assignment at an education site in the Hurstpierpoint / Hassocks area.
This role is ideal for an experienced night security operative who is confident working in a calm, professional manner within an educational environment. Applicants must be available to start on 9th July. Full assignment availability is preferred, but all applicants with strong availability will be considered.
Main Duties
Your duties will include:
- Providing a visible and professional security presence during night hours.
- Monitoring the site and helping maintain a safe environment for students, staff, visitors, and contractors.
- Carrying out regular patrols in line with site instructions.
- Following site-specific SOW, SOPs, assignment instructions, and company procedures.
- Reporting any suspicious behaviour, safety concerns, or incidents to the relevant site contact.
- Engaging with individuals in a calm and professional manner.
- Using appropriate conflict management and de-escalation techniques where required.
- Politely asking unauthorised individuals to leave the site in line with building/site policy.
- Escalating incidents to onsite management where required.
- Requesting police attendance where necessary, in line with site protocol.
- Protecting staff, students, and visitors by creating distance and preventing further access where safe to do so.
- Completing clear and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and handover notes.
- Recording witness details/statements where appropriate.
- Using body-worn video only where authorised and in line with company/site policy.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A valid frontline SIA Security Guard or Door Supervisor licence.
- Previous security experience, ideally in education, residential, corporate, or similar environments.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong conflict management and de-escalation skills.
- A calm and professional approach.
- The ability to work night shifts.
- Good written English for reports and incident logs.
- Reliability and strong timekeeping.
- The ability to follow site instructions and company procedures.
Preferred
- Availability for the full assignment from 9th July to 5th August.
- Experience working on education, residential, accommodation, or safeguarding-sensitive sites.
- First aid qualification.
- Own transport or reliable travel arrangements due to night shift times.
