About Us
Colin W Parker Haulage Ltd is a well-established agricultural transport & general haulage company running a fleet of 7 Scania wagons, moving straw, tractors, machinery, and pre-cast concrete panels across the UK. In 2024 we invested in our own on-site workshop, which now services our own fleet plus around 8 other operators' vehicles and trailers — covering full services, pre-MOTs, and statutory 6-weekly inspections.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV technician to join the team and to take charge of our workshop. You'll maintain our own Scania fleet and support a loyal base of external customers. This is a hands-on, largely autonomous role for someone who takes pride in running a tidy, well-organised workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Servicing, diagnostics, and repairs across HGVs and trailers (Scania fleet + mixed customer vehicles)
- Carrying out MOT preparation and statutory 6-weekly safety inspections
- Maintaining accurate service records and defect reports
- Managing parts ordering and stock for the workshop
- Liaising directly with Colin and external customers on vehicle status and scheduling
- Ensuring workshop health & safety and compliance standards are upheld
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an HGV technician/mechanic (Class 1/2)
- DVSA/ATF inspection authorisation preferred — if you don't hold this yet, we will fund your training for the right candidate
- Scania experience is an advantage, but not essential
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Full UK driving licence and an HGV licence is required
- Experience with TMS systems, such as R2C is preferred but not essential
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, negotiable on experience
- Fully equipped, modern workshop
- Funded training/qualifications where needed
- Stable, growing family business with long-term customers
- Tools provided as required
Pay: £38,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Company car
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
