Cambridge Kids Club is Cambridge’s leading wrap around care provider. We have 13 settings in and around the City of Cambridge providing the highest quality of care for children aged 4-14 years. Our Breakfast, After School and Holiday Clubs are child led, play based provisions where children are encouraged to follow their own interests in a safe and exciting environment.
We are looking for a Playworker for 1:1 SEN support two afternoons a week 2.30pm-6pm starting September 2026.
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they can fully access and enjoy the play setting in a safe, inclusive and positive environment.
- Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the child, encouraging independence, confidence and social interaction with their peers.
- Be aware of changes in children’s friendships, proactively encouraging their socialising and play
- Be aware of safe guarding and child protection
- To report any concerns or problems to the play leaderc
- Set up engaging play spaces and resources that encourage independent, creative and inclusive play.
- Plan, organise and participate in a range of fun, age-appropriate activities for all children.
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks, taking into account individual dietary requirements and allergies.
- Support children's play by joining in where appropriate or supervising in an encouraging and unobtrusive manner.
- Promote positive behaviour and implement agreed strategies to support the individual needs of the child receiving 1:1 support.
- Be responsible for the wellbeing and safety of children within your designated area, with particular awareness of their individual medical, dietary, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Encourage positive friendships, inclusion and social development, supporting children to build relationships and participate in group activities.
Requirements:
- Level 2 or 3 Qualifications in play work or childcare would be an advantage but not essential. If you are willing to work towards these qualifications, training and development is available.
- Ability to drive (with a full clear driving license) would be an advantage, but not essential
