We’re opening a brand-new pet shop in Basingstoke, and we’re looking for a brilliant Pet Shop Manager to lead it from day one.
This is an exciting opportunity to put your stamp on something new. You’ll help build your team, create the culture and set the standards that will make our Basingstoke store a place customers love to visit.
We believe a great pet shop should be about much more than simply buying products.

We want our customers to feel genuinely welcomed, listened to and looked after, whether they’re popping in for their regular essentials or need help finding the perfect product for their pet.
We don't sell live pets. Instead, our focus is on great products, knowledgeable advice and exceptional service for pets and the people who love them.
The opportunity
As our Basingstoke Pet Shop Manager, you'll be there from the beginning.
You'll play an important role in getting the new store ready for launch, building your team and creating the energy and standards we want customers to experience from the moment we open the doors.
Once open, you'll:
- Lead from the shop floor and set the standard for outstanding customer service.
- Build, motivate and develop a friendly, knowledgeable and confident team.
- Create memorable customer experiences that keep people coming back.
- Get to know your customers and build lasting relationships with the local pet owning community.
- Drive sales and achieve store targets through great service and strong product knowledge.
- Keep the store looking fantastic, with high standards of presentation, merchandising and availability.
- Manage stock and the day-to-day operation of the store effectively.
- Coach your team and help them develop their confidence, knowledge and careers.
- Listen to customer feedback and continually look for ways to make the experience even better.
- Bring ideas, enthusiasm and personality to a brand-new store.
About you
We're looking for a manager who loves retail, pets and people and understands what great customer service feels like.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience managing or leading a team in retail or another customer focused environment.
- A passion for creating outstanding customer experiences.
- The ability to motivate, coach and get the best from your team.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of what drives successful retail performance.
- Great communication and people skills.
- High standards and excellent attention to detail.
- The confidence to take ownership and make things happen.
- Plenty of energy and enthusiasm for launching and growing a brand-new store.
- An interest in pets and a willingness to develop your product knowledge.
Pet retail experience isn't essential.
We'll help you develop your pet and product knowledge. What's more important to us is finding a great retail leader who can build a brilliant team and create the kind of customer experience that makes people want to come back.
