Skilled Labourer / Trainee Shop Fitter
Must live within a 15-mile radius of HX2 6HU (Halifax)
Salary: £12.71-£14.00 dependant on experience
Calder Construction & Shop Fitting Ltd is an established construction and maintenance company specialising in retail shop fitting, maintenance, repairs, and new-build projects for a major national retailer.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Skilled Labourer / Trainee Shop Fitter to join our expanding Shop Fitting Team.
This role is ideal for someone with construction experience who is looking to develop their skills and progress into a fully-fledged Shop Fitter. We are seeking an individual who is practical, hardworking, confident using power tools and keen to learn from experienced shop fitters.
The Role
Working alongside our experienced Shop Fitting Team, you will assist in the delivery of retail refurbishment and fit-out projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to become a Shop Fitter within a relatively short period of time.
Projects are predominantly along the M62 corridor, although travel throughout the UK will be required. This role involves both day and night shifts, with regular working away from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Shop Fitters with installation and refurbishment works
- Dismantling and relocating shelving and retail fixtures
- Basic joinery and fitting tasks under supervision
- Using power tools safely and effectively
- Removing and disposing of waste materials
- Loading, unloading and moving materials on site
- Assisting with ceiling tile replacement and general finishing works
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
- Supporting the team to ensure projects are completed on time
What We're Looking For
- Ideally previous experience in construction, shop fitting, joinery or a similar trade
- Confidence using power tools and hand tools (desirable)
- Basic joinery experience and working with metal would be advantageous
- Hardworking with a strong work ethic
- Reliable and willing to learn
- Flexible regarding working hours and locations
- Able to work daytime shifts
- Able to work away from home when required
- Full UK manual driving licence
