2CRSi UK Ltd (t/a Tranquil IT) is a fast-growing, highly regarded company within the IT and edge computing industry. As part of our continued growth and expansion into custom engineering and advanced edge solutions, we are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and detail-oriented CAD Engineer to join our factory-based team in Manchester.
This role is primarily CAD and product engineering focused, supporting the design, development, and delivery of bespoke computing solutions. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with operational and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
CAD & Product Design
- Create and maintain 3D models, part drawings, and assemblies using SolidEdge or SolidWorks
- Design product enclosures, chassis, and mechanical components for edge computing systems
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings for internal production and external suppliers
- Reverse engineer parts where supplier drawings are unavailable
- Ensure all designs are optimised for manufacturability, assembly, and cost
- Generate and maintain assembly drawings and exploded views
Bill of Materials (BoM) & ERP Integration
- Create and maintain accurate multi-level Bills of Materials (BoMs) within the ERP system
- Define part numbers, descriptions, and revision control for all components
- Ensure BoMs align with engineering designs, procurement, and production requirements
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and revision updates
- Work closely with procurement to ensure correct component specification and sourcing
Stock & Part Management
- Assist in the creation and management of stock codes and part libraries
- Maintain a structured and standardised database of components, materials, and assemblies
- Work with operations to ensure stock accuracy and traceability
- Identify opportunities to standardise components across product ranges to optimise stock holding
- Support inventory planning by providing accurate usage data from BoMs
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Produce DXF files for laser cutting and other manufacturing processes
- Create clear and structured assembly instructions, including wiring diagrams and build stages
- Develop QA check sheets and inspection documents for production and warehouse teams
- Support prototype builds and production runs with design adjustments where required
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve technical queries and improve manufacturability
Visualisation & Documentation
- Generate high-quality renders using KeyShot for internal and customer-facing use
- Maintain organised documentation for all design projects, ensuring version control and traceability
- Support technical documentation for compliance and customer deliverables
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with engineering, operations, sales, and leadership teams
- Engage directly with clients when required to support custom project requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design processes, standardisation, and documentation
- Support the development of new products and solution families
Requirements
- Experience using SolidEdge or SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD software)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes
- Experience creating structured BoMs and working with ERP systems
- High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:30
- Friday: 08:30 – 13:30
Holiday Entitlement
- 30 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays)
