We're a fast-growing commercial business based near Doncaster Airport, currently around 12 people and scaling fast. We work at pace, we're investing heavily in technology and automation, and we're looking for a Head of Finance to come in and own the finance function completely.
This is a hands-on ownership role — not a team management position. You'll be the lead internal finance person, supported by external accountants for higher-level technical work, but everything operational is yours to run and improve.
What you'll be doing
- Day-to-day finance operations — reconciliations, payments, invoicing, expenses, refunds and adjustments
- Weekly cashflow updates and monthly management reports
- Month-end support and liaison with external accountants
- Managing recurring costs, subscriptions, insurance and renewals
- Building better systems, controls and reporting as the business grows
- Introducing dashboards and automation to give leadership clearer financial visibility
- Working closely with senior leadership — you'll be in the room, not in the background
What we're looking for
- Proven experience owning a finance function in a small or growing business
- Highly organised, accurate and reliable
- Confident with Xero or similar
- Strong on cashflow, reconciliations, payments and reporting
- Self-sufficient — you don't need hand-holding
- Genuinely curious about automation and smarter ways of working
- Commercially aware, calm under pressure, and not afraid to flag issues early
