About the role
Are you an experienced HVAC professional ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a skilled and motivated HVAC Working Chargehand to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering high-profile commercial and industrial projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys working on-site, mentoring others, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
What you'll be doing
As an HVAC Working Chargehand, you'll be the driving force behind our ductwork installation teams, acting as the vital link between site operatives and project management.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting ductwork fitters, mates, and apprentices on site.
- Coordinating daily activities to ensure work progresses safely and efficiently.
- Installing and overseeing HVAC ductwork systems in line with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Delivering toolbox talks and daily briefings to promote a strong safety culture.
- Liaising with site management, suppliers, and other trades to keep projects running smoothly.
- Monitoring quality and ensuring all installations meet company and client expectations.
- Resolving site challenges and installation clashes proactively.
- Managing materials, tools, and consumables to avoid delays.
- Maintaining accurate records including progress updates, timesheets, and material usage.
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Ductwork Fitter within commercial or industrial environments.
- Level 3 HVAC qualification.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop site teams.
- Excellent knowledge of ductwork systems including rectangular, spiral, and fire-rated systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and coordinate installations effectively.
- CSCS Card (or equivalent construction safety certification).
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
