About the Role
Bauvill Facilities is looking for an experienced and organised Project Manager to join our growing Projects Team.
The successful candidate will manage multiple facilities and building projects from initial instruction through to completion. You will take responsibility for planning each project, managing budgets and resources, coordinating our in-house engineers and subcontractors, and ensuring works are completed safely, on time and to the required standard.
This is a hands-on role that will involve working from our Rochester office while regularly attending client sites to oversee progress, resolve issues and maintain strong working relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from instruction through to completion and handover.
- Review new project works and develop clear delivery plans, budgets and timescales.
- Produce and maintain detailed programmes of works.
- Monitor project budgets, labour, materials and subcontractor costs.
- Coordinate and manage in-house engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Arrange labour, materials, equipment and access requirements.
- Attend client sites for pre-start meetings, progress inspections and handovers.
- Ensure projects remain on programme and take early action where delays or issues arise.
- Keep clients regularly updated on progress, timescales and any changes affecting the works.
- Manage project variations and ensure additional works are properly recorded and approved.
- Review subcontractor quotations and ensure they provide good value and meet project requirements.
- Monitor the quality of all works and ensure any defects or snagging items are resolved promptly.
- Ensure all projects are delivered safely and in line with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate project records, including progress updates, costs, photographs and completion documents.
- Work closely with the wider Projects and Operations Teams to ensure an effective handover and smooth delivery.
- Build positive relationships with clients and identify opportunities for further works.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must have:
- Previous experience managing projects within facilities management, construction, refurbishment or building services.
- The ability to manage several live projects at different stages at the same time.
- Strong budget management and commercial awareness.
- Experience producing and managing programmes of works.
- Experience coordinating both directly employed engineers and subcontractors.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with clients.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and managing project risks.
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
- The ability to work independently while contributing as part of a wider team.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- A full UK driving licence, as travel to client sites will be required.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their projects and does not wait for issues to escalate before taking action. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities and keeping clients and the project team fully informed throughout the delivery process.
The right person will be organised, commercially aware and committed to delivering every project safely, professionally, within budget and on time.
