Overview:
Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with a UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking a Hardware Support & Asset Control Engineer to support our client in the maritime defence industry. This is a hands-on operational support role focused on hardware logistics, inventory control, physical build activity, and procurement support; best suited to a capable mid-level engineer/senior technician rather than a design resource.
The successful candidate will be a practical and reliable hardware support engineer with experience in physical hardware environments, asset control, and hands-on build activity. The individual should be comfortable balancing inventory accuracy, physical hardware tasks, and day-to-day operational support under direction from the client team. He/she will likely have an electronics or systems engineering background and be conversant with legislation compliance with industry, environmental and safety standards. The role will be based on the client site in Portsmouth.
We are looking for an energetic and driven engineer with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates from highly regulated industries such as marine, military, aerospace, nuclear or rail.

Responsibilities:
Key areas of responsibilities include:

Support equipment clear-out, removal, and disposal activities
-
Maintain inventory records including stock takes, moves, additions, and disposals
-
Support the build of hardware solutions including deliverable units, rigs, racks, and cabling
-
Assist with quotations, specifications, and procurement support information for hardware purchases

Work to prioritised tasking set by the BAE PM or WPM
-
Maintain accurate records and ensure hardware assets are physically and administratively controlled

Support general hardware operations activity as directed by programme need
Qualifications:
- HNC in engineering with ideally electronics or systems engineering background.

Where applicable suitable experience in addition to a lower qualification would be acceptable.

Experience:
- Hands-on experience in hardware support, rig build, rack build, lab support, or technical environment support roles

Experience with stock control, inventory updates, and equipment tracking

Experience handling hardware moves, decommissioning, disposal, or asset lifecycle activity

Experience building or supporting hardware solutions including racks, rigs, cabling, and equipment installation

Experience working in a structured engineering, technical, or operational environment

Defence, marine, or regulated engineering environment experience desirable

Exposure to technical stores, asset management, or configuration-controlled environments desirable

Experience supporting procurement through quotations, technical specs, or supplier information gathering desirable

Experience in integration labs, equipment rooms, or test environments desirable
