Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Grounds Maintenance Foreman to oversee and coordinate landscape projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of landscape maintenance, and mechanical expertise. This role involves supervising a team, ensuring the quality of work, and maintaining the aesthetic and functional aspects of outdoor spaces. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily grounds maintenance activities, including landscaping, gardening, and horticulture tasks.
- Operate and maintain power tools, hand tools, excavators, and irrigation systems efficiently and safely.
- Oversee the use of construction equipment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Plan and execute landscape improvements, including planting, pruning, fertilising, and pest control.
- Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify maintenance needs or hazards.
- Train team members on proper equipment use, safety procedures, and maintenance techniques.
- Manage scheduling of tasks to meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Collaborate with clients or project managers to understand project scope and deliver desired outcomes.
Experience
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture roles.
- Mechanical knowledge related to power tools, irrigation systems, excavators, and other landscaping machinery.
- Construction experience is advantageous for understanding site preparation and groundworks.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools and power tools for various maintenance tasks.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in groundskeeping or construction projects preferred.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to outdoor maintenance work is essential.
