We are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to oversee our day-to-day operations, lead our operational teams, and drive efficiency across the business.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the men on the ground. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standard while supporting business growth and maintaining excellent client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the scaffolding business.
- Plan and coordinate labour, vehicles, equipment, and materials across multiple projects.
- Liaise with the Scaffolding Manager on project scheduling to maximise productivity and resource utilisation.
- Ensure all works comply with current health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Manage charge hands, yard staff, drivers, and scaffold teams to achieve operational targets.
- Conduct site visits to monitor quality, safety, and progress.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively to minimise disruption.
- Monitor labour productivity, and operational performance.
- Ensure scaffold inspections, documentation, and compliance records are completed accurately.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop operational staff.
- Lead operational meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with senior management to achieve company objectives and growth targets.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience managing operations within the scaffolding industry.
- Strong knowledge of scaffolding practices, regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to control costs and improve efficiency.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- CISRS Advanced Scaffolder or Scaffold Supervisor qualification.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Experience using project management or scheduling software.
- Knowledge of TG20 and SG4 guidance.
