Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Practitioner to oversee and support high-quality childcare within our small and homely nursery setting. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading a small team of practitioners, ensuring a nurturing environment for children, and maintaining compliance with early childhood education standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about early years development and committed to fostering positive learning experiences. This is a role which can be worked over 4 or 5 days and will be with children aged 2-4
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of childcare practitioners, providing guidance and support to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum.
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities tailored to children's individual needs.
- Monitor and assess children's progress, maintaining detailed records in line with regulatory requirements.
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that promotes children's well-being and development.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding children's progress and any concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and early years frameworks.
- Support the professional development of team members through mentoring and training initiatives.
- Contribute to the organisation’s continuous improvement processes by sharing best practices and innovative ideas.
Experience
- Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of practitioners.
- Extensive experience working directly with children, ideally within early childhood education or childcare environments.
- Knowledge of nursery practices, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs is desirable.
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for roles requiring travel between settings or community engagement activities. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic professional committed to delivering exceptional childcare services while leading a dedicated team in a supportive environment.

Pay: £13.25-£13.75 per hour
