A specialist Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Longsight area of Manchester is seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, initially through an education agency with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Provide 1:1 and small group support for primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and additional behavioural challenges.

Support pupils in developing positive relationships, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning.

Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans.

Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment where pupils can succeed.

Encourage confidence, resilience, and independence both inside and outside the classroom.

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or within a PRU, alternative provision, or specialist setting is highly desirable.

A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.

Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children who may have experienced barriers to learning.
