We are currently recruiting a dedicated Cook/Chef on a full-time basis, to ensure the smooth running of our kitchen in a medium sized care home in the Sketty area of Swansea.
The successful candidate will already be trained in all relevant training for this type of position and must have a positive amount of experience working within a similar setting. We do provide training but you will be required to have great knowledge in the running of a kitchen to start off as well as the relevant qualifications before your start date with us.

The Chef / Cook will be contracted to a 42.5-hour contract (5 x 8.5-hour shifts per week), They will work alongside a part time head Chef covering the allocated weekly days off, and will need to be willing and flexible enough to cover shortfalls within the kitchen team at short notice. Weekend work will be required.
As a Cook/Chef, you will use your skills to maintain a high standard of quality work. Preparing a healthy, well balanced, home-cooked, high-quality menu, ensuring that our resident’s choices and preferences are always taken in to consideration.
You will assist the manager to seek opportunities to improve the home’s menus and food services, maintaining a positive brand image through exemplary customer service and excellent managerial skills with colleagues.
You will ensure that a high standard of record keeping and reducing food waste levels, supporting with all kitchen organisation, planning, ordering, stock-taking, rotation and cleaning responsibilities.
You will deal with staff rotas for kitchen and domestic cover, using the domestic team to assist in the smooth running of the kitchen, where any downfall in the team occurs due to sickness or annual leave etc.
You will adhere to compliance regulations, and ensure that hygiene standards are achieved and maintained, be passionate about preparing, serving and providing the highest quality food and customer service experience as well as having a good understanding of food handling & hygiene standards at all times.
A very flexible approach to working is essential for this position.
Skills:
- Culinary expertise with a strong knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
- Experience in meal preparation in a care home, restaurant or similar setting
- Proficient in food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
