JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Director of Software Engineering in Corporate Technology, you will lead feature teams in Glasgow, ensuring their work aligns with our vision and goals. You will oversee project delivery, coordinate tasks across teams, and uphold the highest engineering standards. Your role involves mentoring engineers, collaborating with stakeholders, and making strategic decisions that shape our technology landscape. You will help build a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:

Lead feature teams in Glasgow, ensuring alignment with our vision and goals

Design, develop, test, and deploy software products using diverse technologies

Ensure software quality, reliability, security, and performance through best practices

Sets direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation within a technical area to drive measurable improvements in speed, quality, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-orchestrated delivery workflows, release readiness controls, automated test modernization, and incident triage acceleration), while establishing guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse across teams.

Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation and support capacity unlock initiatives at scale

Document issues and resolve bugs efficiently

Collaborate with Engineering Leads, Product Owners, Solutions Architects, and stakeholders to deliver user-focused solutions

Mentor, coach, and provide feedback to engineers for skill and performance growth

Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies

Create and maintain technical documentation and reports
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

Experience with cloud platforms such as Databricks

Experience with data analysis and machine learning tools and frameworks

Certifications in software engineering, project management, or related fields

Experience building on emerging cloud serverless managed services
