Job Title: Receptionist

Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 35 per week
Reports to : Practice Manager
Salary: £25,400.00
Key Responsibilities
- Meeting and greeting patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Checking patients in for appointments and confirming personal details, including name, date of birth, address, and GP information
- Ensuring GDPR compliance and maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times
- Preparing and maintaining consultation rooms to ensure they are clean, organised, and ready for use
- Monitoring the reception email inbox and escalating patient queries appropriately to the Medical Secretaries or relevant departments
- Answering and directing incoming telephone calls in a courteous and efficient manner
- Taking patient payments and recording financial transactions accurately using internal systems
- Booking clinical appointments as required
- Confirming outpatient appointments one week ahead
- Assisting patients with general enquiries and providing excellent customer service
- Maintaining a tidy and professional reception environment
- Supporting the wider administrative and clinical teams with general reception duties as required
- Escalating Pathology Results to Operations lead
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous reception or customer service experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional telephone manner and presentation
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information sensitively
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and appointment systems
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment
Desirable
- Previous experience within private healthcare, cosmetic clinics, or medical settings
- Experience handling payments and cash reconciliation
- Knowledge of GDPR and patient confidentiality procedures
