The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients, carers and visitors. The role is to provide a calm, organised and welcoming front desk service. You help the clinic run smoothly by managing appointments, handling enquiries, and supporting the clinical team with basic administration.
Greet patients and visitors. Check them in and guide them to the right area.
Manage phone calls and emails. Give clear, accurate information or pass queries to the right team member.
Book, change and cancel appointments using the service’s systems.
Handle clinic lists.
Alert staff to arrivals, delays or urgent issues.
Process correspondence, including referrals, letters and internal messages.
Support reception area standards. Keep it tidy, accessible and welcoming.
Deal with basic queries about services, waiting times and processes.
Escalate concerns or complaints in line with local procedures.
Work closely with administrators, clinicians and technicians to keep clinics on track.
