The Swinton Hop House is a small independent craft ale bar based in Salford, 1 Pendlebury Road, M27 4AG
The Swinton Hop House is looking for a CRAFT ALE BAR TENDER.
You must be able to work weekend nights. FRIDAY / SATURDAY / SUNDAY *please explore local transport routes to and from the area, as to make sure you remain punctual. Also take in to consideration of how to get home safe once the shifts ends.
Shifts can usually start between 16:00pm / 18:00pm, and should usually finish no later that 00:00am
Your role is to serve craft ales from the casks and kegs, as well as a small range of other beverages.
A person with enthusiasm and a meticulous nature is needed to maintain a welcoming atmosphere while having a good knowledge of, and a true passion for the products we sell.
We are looking for an individual who drinks craft ale and has a genuine interest in the real ale beer scene.
You will be responsible for engaging with guests, managing bar operations efficiently, and contributing to a lively, positive environment that keeps patrons coming back.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your hospitality skills while working as part of our very small team, behind our very small bar.
The correct individual must be pre trained in serving ale from the cask and must have an understanding of basic cellar work.
We must add, we DO NOT have cleaners. As part of the job, all staff are required to clean down the pub properly at the end of every shift and have a sense of pride in doing so.
Please be aware that as we have a very small team, taking breaks on shift and also cigarette breaks can be challenging.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of craft ale and other alcoholic / non-alcoholic beverages.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner to enhance their overall experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Manage cash register operations, process payments accurately, and handle transactions efficiently.
- Monitor guest behavior to promote responsible drinking.
- Restock bar supplies, garnishes, glassware, and other essentials to ensure smooth service throughout shifts.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate service flow during busy periods and uphold high standards of hospitality.
- Have a good understanding of cleaning a pub to a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in craft ale pubs / bars is required.
- Previous experience working with Cask Ale is required.
- Previous experience working with Keg Ale is required
- Pre trained in basic cellar jobs is required.
- Good knowledge of hospitality practices, including serving alcohol responsibly and maintaining food safety standards.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy hours.
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and team members.
- Knowledge of local alcohol laws and regulations related to serving alcohol responsibly.
- A friendly attitude combined with professionalism to create a welcoming environment for all customers.
