As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Lighting & Video Technician to become a core member of our team and help shape the future of our technical department.
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of our lighting and video department and play a key role in both warehouse operations and onsite event delivery.
The Role
As Lighting & Video Technician, you will oversee the day-to-day management of our lighting and AV equipment.
You'll be involved throughout the production process, from advising on equipment selection during planning, preparing and maintaining equipment in the warehouse, through to leading installations and operating systems onsite.
You'll also have the opportunity to influence future investment in equipment and help shape the technical direction of the company as we continue to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Lit Event Group's lighting and AV department.
- Prepare, test and maintain lighting and video equipment to ensure it is event-ready.
- Work closely with project managers to advise on technical solutions and specify appropriate equipment for each event.
- Assist in designing lighting and video systems based on client requirements and venue constraints.
- Plan, patch and pre-program lighting systems where required.
- Create lighting plots and technical documentation for events.
- Advise on future equipment purchases and contribute to the ongoing development of the department.
- Lead or support the loading, installation, operation and de-rig of lighting and video systems at events.
- Act as Lead Technician onsite when required, managing freelance technicians and crew.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship, safety and presentation are maintained at all times.
- Help maintain an organised, efficient and professional warehouse environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone with strong technical knowledge across both lighting and video production, including experience with many of the following:
Lighting
- Experience with professional lighting systems used in live events.
- Confident programming and operating Avolites and/or ChamSys lighting consoles.
- Ability to design lighting systems, create lighting plots, patch fixtures and pre-program shows.
- Strong understanding of DMX and networking for lighting control.
Video
- Experience configuring and operating LED video wall systems.
- Knowledge of NovaStar processors.
- Experience with professional video switchers and processors such as PixelHue or Barco E2 (or willingness to develop these skills).
- Experience with Blackmagic Design equipment and PTZ camera systems.
- Good understanding of video signal distribution and standards including:
- SDI
- HDBaseT
- Fibre
- HDMI
General
- Previous experience working across corporate events, weddings, private events and/or festivals.
- Experience rigging and operating lighting and video systems safely and efficiently.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
- Experience leading onsite crews and managing freelance technicians.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Location
This role is based from our warehouse in Wembley, North West London, with travel to venues across London and the UK. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of the warehouse.
