Duties & Responsibilities
1. To assist people with all aspects of personal care. Including, washing, personal hygiene, dressing and assisting with meals, whilst ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times.
2. To deliver compassionate person-centred care that shows commitment to the mental and physical well-being of all individuals.
3. To pro-actively empower people to participate in daily activities of their choice such as; day trips, recreational/leisure activities, crafts, reading, writing, etc. involving all individuals in decision making and supporting people to make their own decisions. To enable and support all individuals to achieve their wishes and life goals.
4. To demonstrate a genuine interest and understanding of all individuals by being sensitive and empathetic to the needs and emotions of others, being able to put yourself into the position of others. To always have a positive attitude and a can-do approach.
5. To be responsible and accountable in understanding service users care plans and risk assessments.
6. To be responsible and accountable in providing factual, accurate and up-to-date information in all record keeping and documentation.
7. To be adaptable in maintaining the safety of all service users who are dependant upon the service being responsive to ever-changing choices and needs.
8. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, service users, parents/guardians/carers and external professionals, in line with the ‘Professional Boundaries’ policy. Maintaining effective and positive communication which acknowledges the efforts of others; accepts and values diversity and, respects the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of service users and colleagues.
9. To be responsible and accountable for the correct documentation and reporting of all concerns/complaints/compliments regarding service users (quality of life) and colleagues, using the correct procedure, particularly in safeguarding and whistle-blowing.
10. To attend team meetings, reflective meetings, annual self-assessment and progress reviews, training sessions/courses, and any other reasonable request to attend a meeting/review, as required.
11. To take ownership and responsibility for your contribution agreement and progress review
12. To manage and monitor resources appropriately and effectively. To assist in maintaining the good order of all property, services and supplies, and reporting repairs/breakages to the line manager.
13. To understand, adopt and to live the organisations values
14. To support the company in agreed ways of working by ensuring adherence to the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Alternative Care’s policies and procedures and any other appropriate and relevant legislation.
15. To be aware and to follow Policies and procedures of Alternative Care Limited
16. To positively promote the Alternative Care Limited brand and ensure the good reputation of the company.
17. Any other duties as reasonably requested by management.
Person Specification
We are looking for a caring individual who is compassionate about providing care and support to challenging and vulnerable people;
Someone who understands that everyone is different and who makes sure people who use our care and support service have a choice in their care,
A person who can demonstrate excellent organisational skills,
A team player but also able to work on own initiative, maintaining a positive attitude,
A self-motivated and flexible individual who is dedicated to the people who depend on our service,
Someone with the ability to provide emotional and social support by putting yourself in the position of others,
Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and listening abilities,
Excellent attendance and punctuality record,
Commitment to providing a high standard of quality care
Contra Indications
This post is subject to a satisfactory response from the UK Disclosure & Barring Service and the receipt of two satisfactory references including one from the most recent previous employer.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
