Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to contribute to a high standard of service in a fast-paced hospitality setting. Previous experience in food preparation or hospitality is advantageous but not mandatory, as full training will be provided.
Duties
- Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, and pans to uphold hygiene standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the chef or kitchen supervisor
- Supporting the cleaning of kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment to maintain a safe working environment
- Organising storage areas and ensuring all items are stored correctly and safely
- Helping with waste disposal and recycling procedures efficiently
- Assisting with stock rotation and inventory checks as needed
- Supporting the serving staff during busy periods to ensure smooth service flow
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment is desirable but not essential
- Familiarity with basic food preparation and kitchen procedures is an advantage
- Experience in hospitality or culinary roles can be beneficial for understanding service standards
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to the demands of a dynamic kitchen environment
