Job Overview
We are seeking for a Vehicle Health Check Inspector to join our workshop team. This is an inspection-focused position, responsible for carrying out thorough mechanical, safety and electronic health checks, including diagnostic scanning, and accurately recording all findings.
The successful candidate will play an important role in providing the Workshop Controller with factual and impartial information to support repair and maintenance decisions.
Duties
- Carry out structured vehicle health checks in line with approved inspection procedures.
- Conduct thorough visual inspections of braking, steering, suspension, tyres, wheels and underbody components.
- Remove undertrays where required to allow a thorough undercarriage inspection.
- Check fluid levels and identify visible leaks or damage.
- Inspect battery condition, mounting and terminals.
- Measure and accurately record tyre tread depths and other relevant inspection measurements.
- Carry out full vehicle diagnostic scans using approved diagnostic equipment.
- Accurately record all fault codes, affected systems and warning light status.
- Enter inspection findings promptly and accurately into the DMS and digital health check system.
- Apply vehicle condition grades consistently and support findings with measurements or fault codes where appropriate.
- Immediately escalate safety-critical defects or significant diagnostic findings to the Workshop Controller.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised inspection area.
- Follow all dealership health and safety procedures and use the required PPE.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify common vehicle issues quickly and accurately
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers for inspection tasks
- Experience with power tools used in automotive inspections
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections and accurate documentation
- Good communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting findings clearly
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards
Working Hours
- Full-time, Permanent
- Monday to Friday: 9:00am–6:00pm
- Alternating Saturdays: 9:00am–6:00pm
