Warehouse Team Leader

Hours: 13:00-20:00 Mon-Fri

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, reliable and hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to join our team.
This is an important role within the business and would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team, is confident managing people and takes pride in making sure the warehouse operates efficiently and safely.
You will be responsible for leading the warehouse team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring we have the right number of staff available for each shift and making sure that work is completed to the required standard.
The successful applicant will need to be comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions and dealing with staff in a professional and fair manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and motivate the warehouse team on a daily basis.
- Ensure the correct number of employees are scheduled and available for each shift.
- Organise staff rotas and cover holidays, sickness and other absences where required.
- Identify when additional staff are required and assist with the recruitment and selection of new employees.
- Train, support and develop new and existing members of the warehouse team.
- Allocate daily tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
- Monitor staff performance and address any issues professionally.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, cleanliness and safety.
- Operate a forklift as required, including loading and unloading lorries.
- Ensure goods are loaded correctly, securely and safely.
- Work alongside the warehouse team and be prepared to get involved in the day-to-day physical work when required.
- Ensure all warehouse procedures are followed.
- Carry out opening and closing duties when required.
- Be responsible for locking and securing the warehouse at the end of each evening shift.
- Report any operational, staffing or health and safety issues to management.
- Help identify ways to improve warehouse efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure a positive and respectful working environment within the warehouse.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and motivated, with the ability to lead by example.
You should be someone who enjoys responsibility and is comfortable managing a team while also being willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside them.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment.
- Previous experience supervising or managing staff.
- A current forklift licence/certification and practical forklift experience.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- The confidence to manage staff and deal with difficult situations when necessary.
- Good communication skills and the ability to give clear instructions.
- The ability to plan staffing requirements and organise shifts effectively.
- A proactive approach to solving problems.
- The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- A strong sense of responsibility and reliability.
- Good attention to detail.
- A positive attitude towards work.
- The ability to work independently and use initiative.
- A willingness to lead from the front and get involved when required.
