Trainee Debt Advisor

Salary: £25,000 per annum + Bonus potential
Progression: £26,500 basic upon successful completion of training + realistic OTE £32,500
Location: Birchwood, Warrington (WA3 7PB) – office based, hybrid working (Maximum 2 Days a week) available after probation/training
Hours & shift pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
- 3 shifts: 9:00am–5:00pm
- 2 shifts: 11:00am–7:00pm
- 1 Saturday in 4 rota (paid overtime)
This role includes a rotating shift pattern, so applicants should be comfortable working a mix of early and later weekday shifts.

About the role
As a Trainee Debt Advisor, you’ll support customers who are experiencing financial difficulty and help them understand their available options.
You’ll:
- Speak with customers by phone, email and SMS regarding their financial situation
- Gather information and complete affordability assessments
- Support applications and follow up with customers throughout the process
- Recommend suitable debt solutions based on customer circumstances and eligibility
- Deliver customer outcomes that are clear, fair and not misleading
- Learn to work within a regulated debt-advice environment with ongoing coaching and support
What we’re looking for:
Essential
- Minimum 1 year experience in financial services and/or customer service (phone-based experience preferred)
- Comfortable speaking with customers over the phone and building rapport
- Strong written communication skills (email/SMS)
- Able to multitask, prioritise workload and work to deadlines
- GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
- Must be able to reliably commute to Birchwood, Warrington (WA3)
Ideal experience (not essential)
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Financial services
- Banking or insurance
- Collections or arrears
- Affordability/vulnerability/customer support
- Debt advice or regulated environments
- Target or KPI-driven roles
