About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join our Procurement team at Sellafield. This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, driving value through the supply chain, and contributing to the successful delivery of major projects.

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery by managing procurement activities from requisition through to order placement. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure materials, services and plant requirements are sourced efficiently, compliantly and cost-effectively.
You will also support wider procurement initiatives, category management activities and supply chain strategies whilst helping to maximise value and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Responsibilities;
- Managing procurement activities and fulfilling business requisitions.
- Acting as a key point of contact for procurement support, advice and query resolution.
- Sourcing suppliers and obtaining competitive quotations.
- Conducting tender processes and evaluating supplier proposals.
- Managing plant hire equipment and site vehicle requirements.
- Producing spend analysis, market intelligence reports and procurement data.
- Developing Supply Chain Strategies and maintaining Procurement Schedules.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings and value improvement.
- Negotiating commercial terms and supplier discounts.
- Monitoring supplier performance and supporting category management activities.
- Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, procedures and group agreements
Who we're looking for
- Experience in a procurement or buying role.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and procurement processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and negotiation experience.
- Supply chain management experience.
- Knowledge of subcontract procurement processes.
- Experience using procurement and e-tendering systems such as Oracle, Jaggaer or similar.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Self-motivated, customer-focused and able to work collaboratively within a team.
- Able to obtain a security clearance
- Relevant business degree or equivalent experience.
- Nuclear industry experience or experience working within a highly regulated environment
