Job Role - Personal Assistant -
We are looking for a reliable, confident, and proactive Personal Assistant (PA) to support a young person, at home and in the community. This role aims to promote independence, safety and enjoyable access to meaningful activities.
About the Role
You will support a family with a young adult who has additional needs. He is non-verbal, uses PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and responds well to prompts, modelling, and basic spoken commands. The PA should feel confident engaging with a young adult who uses alternative communication methods.
Support is mainly required for:

Community access and social activities – cycling (Bristol Family Cycling Centre), parks, playgrounds, walks, shopping trips, bowling, concerts

Personal care – requires support when using bathroom facilities. Prompting is usually sufficient, but direct assistance is provided when necessary

Domestic support – minimal 1:1 task such as light cleaning or laundry

Meal preparation/cooking as required
Pay & Employment Details

Hourly rate: £12.60 per hour

Start date: ASAP (flexible)

Paid through PAYE (not cash-in-hand)

Self-Employed worker would be considered - hours would be 4.5 @ £20.00 per hour
Working Pattern
Support is needed at different times depending on the school schedule:

School holidays: Evenings and daytime support

Term time at Weekends: Mainly required
Total hours: 6 hours per week
Hours are flexible to meet the family’s needs.

Experience & Skills
- The PA must have previous care experience supporting children or young people with additional or communication needs.
- Confidence with visual communication systems (such as PECS), de-escalation, and supporting an energetic child in community activities is essential.
