The Standen Swim Academy (previously known as Durley House Swim School) is recruiting swimming teachers!
We are looking for enthusiastic Level 1 & Level 2 Swimming Teachers (ASA or STA qualified) to join our growing team across multiple locations including Winchester, Twyford, Durley & Bishop’s Waltham.
Whether you’re an experienced teacher looking for a more supportive, personal swim school environment, a university student returning home for the Summer, or someone looking for flexible part-time teaching work — we would love to hear from you.
At The Standen Swim Academy, we specialise in:
- Small group lessons (maximum 3 swimmers per class)
- Private 1:1 & 1:2 lessons
- Warm, friendly, family-run environment
- High-quality, child-focused teaching
- Creative, engaging lessons with a fantastic team atmosphere
Our teaching team are our most valuable asset and are treated with the highest level of respect and support.
We are currently recruiting for:
- The remainder of the Summer Term
- Summer Holiday Courses (both 5-day intensive courses and 2-day weekend courses)
- Permanent teaching positions for the Autumn Term starting in September
Current opportunities available across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Rates of Pay:
- £22+ per hour for Level 2 ASA / STA Certificate teachers (£25+ including holiday pay)
- £18+ per hour for STA Award teachers (£20+ including holiday pay)

Not yet qualified but interested in becoming a swimming teacher?
We also have limited openings within our mentoring scheme for future teachers looking to gain hands-on experience and work towards their swim teaching qualification.
Our mentoring programme gives you the opportunity to shadow experienced teachers, learn poolside and in the water, build confidence, and gain real experience within a busy swim school environment.
Training bursaries may be available for suitable candidates.
Applicants will be offered a Zoom interview and paid trial shift.
