Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Support the senior kitchen team in meal assembly and presentation.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations.
- Organise and manage sections of the kitchen during service periods, ensuring timely delivery of dishes.
- Oversee food storage procedures, including proper labelling and rotation to minimise waste.
- Collaborate with team members to develop new menu ideas and improve existing recipes.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is used correctly and maintained properly.
- Assist in training junior staff members, sharing culinary knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or hospitality setting is highly desirable.
- Competence in meal preparation across various cuisines and techniques.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service times.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Formal culinary training or relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential for highly experienced candidates.
