Role Overview
- Position: Assistant General Manager
- Location: The Caley Sample Room, 42-58 Angle Park Terrace, Edinburgh, EH11 2JR
- Hours: Full-time (including evenings, weekends, and key match days)
- Reporting to: General Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Management: Lead floor and bar operations safely, ensuring flawless service during high-pressure times like Hearts match days and Six Nations rugby screenings.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and motivate bar and floor staff, driving a culture of exceptional Scottish hospitality.
- Stock & Cellar Control: Manage inventory, place orders, and oversee cellar maintenance to keep our 20+ craft and real ale taps in perfect condition.
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing weekly pub quizzes, live music sessions, and private venue bookings.
- Admin & Compliance: Handle daily cash reconciliation, staff scheduling, health and safety regulations, and customer resolution.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a high-volume pub or restaurant.
- Cellar Skills: Proven knowledge of real ale management, line cleaning, and changing kegs.
- Local Vibe: A friendly, outgoing personality comfortable interacting with our diverse crowd of locals, sports fans, families, and students.
- Flexibility: Availability to work dynamic shifts, particularly weekends, late nights, and bank holidays.
- Organization: Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort using modern EPOS and reservation systems.
