Overview:
Joining the Systems Engineering Team of a key client in the UK, the Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering space missions from concept through to launch, commissioning, and in-orbit operations.
Working within the Systems Engineering team, the role provides end-to-end involvement across missions spanning LEO, GEO, and beyond, ensuring the delivery of robust, high-quality system solutions through effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Systems Engineer or Technical Lead across the full mission lifecycle, from early concept through to operations

Perform mission and system design activities, including space and ground segments

Capture, analyse, and manage system requirements, ensuring alignment with mission objectives

Conduct system-level analysis, including trade studies, sensitivity analysis, and performance assessments

Support development of concepts of operations and mission architectures

Lead and contribute to customer-facing meetings, technical reviews, and project presentations

Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports

Support bids, proposals, and technical studies, ensuring delivery to cost, schedule, and performance requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
Essential skills:
- Strong systems engineering capability across complex engineering programmes

Solid understanding of requirements management and verification processes

Knowledge of system-level design covering both space and ground segments

Analytical capability, including experience with tools such as STK, MATLAB, or equivalent

Familiarity with orbit analysis, RF link analysis, and system performance budgets

Understanding of FMECA and FDIR principles

Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills

Ability to work effectively under pressure and within multidisciplinary teams

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Desired skills:
- Experience with project planning tools such as MS Project

Knowledge of satellite applications (e.g., Earth observation, communications, science)

Familiarity with environmental testing (e.g., vibration, thermal vacuum)

Understanding of spacecraft assembly, integration, and test processes
Experience:
- Proven experience working as a Systems Engineer within the space industry

Experience contributing to or leading space mission design activities

Track record of working with system and subsystem design across space and ground segments

Experience in requirements definition, analysis, and verification

Exposure to spacecraft testing, commissioning, or operational phases
