Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Storesperson to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, control, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods while maintaining high standards of accuracy, housekeeping, and health and safety. This role is vital in ensuring customers receive the correct products on time and that stock is managed effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Goods In
- Receive deliveries from suppliers.
- Check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies.
- Book stock into the warehouse management system.
- Report shortages, damaged goods, or incorrect deliveries promptly.
Stock Control
- Store products safely and accurately within designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain stock accuracy through regular stock counts and cycle counts.
- Rotate stock where appropriate (FIFO).
- Report low stock levels and damaged or obsolete stock.
Order Picking & Dispatch
- Pick customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Pack orders securely for collection or delivery.
- Prepare delivery documentation.
- Load delivery vehicles safely and correctly.
- Ensure all customer orders leave complete and on time.
Warehouse Operations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely (training provided where required).
- Assist with unloading and loading vehicles.
- Ensure aisles and emergency exits remain clear.
- Follow company procedures and health and safety regulations at all times.
Customer Support
- Assist trade counter staff when required.
- Help customers collecting orders.
- Maintain a professional and helpful attitude towards customers and colleagues.
General Duties
- Support colleagues during busy periods.
- Assist with warehouse improvements and organisation.
- Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by management.
Skills and Experience Essential
- Previous warehouse or stores experience.
- Experience using warehouse or stock management software.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Good level of physical fitness.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience within a builders' merchant, construction supplies, or industrial distribution environment.
- Previous van driving or multi-drop delivery experience.
- Full UK Driving licence.

Pay: £27,500.00-£32,000.00 per year
