Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive depending on experience
Benefits: Company Bonus Scheme / Gym
About the Company:
We are a family-run cable manufacturing business. As a relatively small and close-knit company, every member of our team plays an important role in the success of the business.
This is an opportunity to join a busy manufacturing environment where your contribution will be visible and where you can genuinely make a difference to the day-to-day running of the company. We are looking for a capable, organised and hands-on individual who is comfortable working across different areas of the business and who enjoys having a varied role with real responsibility.
The successful candidate will work closely with our office, production, warehouse, cable testing laboratory, customers and suppliers. While the role is primarily office and operations focused, the nature of our business means that flexibility and a willingness to provide practical support to other departments when required are essential.
The Role:
Manufacturing Operations Coordinator will have a varied and important role within the business, with stock control and stock management being the primary responsibility.
You will take direct responsibility for maintaining accurate stock levels, monitoring requirements, identifying purchasing needs and helping to ensure that the materials required by the business are available when needed. The role also encompasses purchasing administration, customer and sales support, and practical support to our warehouse, production and cable testing laboratory functions.
The role would suit someone with previous office experience who is highly organised, confident using Microsoft Office and modern technology, comfortable working with numbers and able to take ownership of tasks from start to finish.
Key responsibilities include:
· Take overall responsibility for stock control and stock management, ensuring stock records are accurate, up to date and appropriately maintained.
· Liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, lead times and other relevant purchasing information.
· Raise and manage purchase orders for materials, components and other items required by the business.
· Work closely with production and warehouse personnel to understand material requirements and ensure stock is available to support manufacturing activities.
· Help improve stock-control processes and identify opportunities to make purchasing, stock management and administrative procedures more efficient.
· Support the wider business with document control, filing, data entry, record keeping and general administrative duties.
· Assist with activities within the cable testing laboratory, including practical support, organisation, preparation, recording and general laboratory-related duties as appropriate and following company procedures.
· Assist and respond to customer and sales enquiries by email and, where required, by telephone. Also, provide after-sales support and assist with resolving customer queries by liaising with relevant colleagues internally.
Required Skills
· We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and practical, with the ability to work independently while also being a positive and effective member of a small team.
· Good understanding of stock control, or the ability and willingness to learn stock-management processes quickly.
· Good computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
· Good written and verbal communication skills. Also comfortable working with numbers and maintaining accurate records.
· Strong level of secondary education, with a good standard of written English and basic mathematical ability.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have a primary responsibility for stock control, but will also become involved in purchasing, customer support, administration, production, warehouse activities, cable testing and other operational areas.
· Previous experience within the cable, engineering or manufacturing industry is not essential.
