Role Description The Information Technology Support Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for providing high-quality technical support to Truebyte’s clients. Day-to-day tasks include responding to help desk tickets, diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, and ensuring timely resolution while maintaining clear communication with users. The role involves system administration activities such as user account management, updates and patches, basic server maintenance, and monitoring system performance. The engineer will document incidents and solutions, contribute to knowledge base articles, and escalate complex issues as needed. Collaboration with other engineers and service teams is expected to support project work, improve processes, and uphold security and compliance standards.
Duties
- Provide technical support to end-users via help desk tickets, phone calls and on-site visits, ensuring quick resolution of hardware and software issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve software problems related to operating systems
- Maintain and support computer hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
- Configure and manage network components like LAN (Local Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network), DNS (Domain Name System), TCP/IP protocols, firewalls, and switches to ensure secure connectivity
- Administer Active Directory for user account management, permissions and group policies; support Microsoft Windows Server environments
- Assist with server administration tasks including backups, updates, and security patches to maintain system integrity
- Support remote connectivity solutions ensuring reliable access through VPNs and troubleshoot network issues promptly
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze system performance issues and implement effective solutions
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Technical Support and Help Desk Support, with experience handling user requests and incident resolution.
- Solid foundation in Information Technology and System Administration, including user management, updates, and basic server or cloud environment support.
- Proficient Troubleshooting abilities across hardware, software, and network issues, with a structured approach to diagnosing problems.
- Familiarity with common operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and standard productivity tools and collaboration platforms.
- Awareness of cyber security best practices and willingness to work within ISO and Cyber Essentials frameworks.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage priorities, and contribute to a distributed team environment.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar) or equivalent practical experience are highly beneficial.
