We’re looking for a Customs & Excise Compliance Leader to ensure our business operates in full compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including HMRC Customs & Excise, Irish Revenue and Scotch Whisky Verification.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with stakeholders from across the business and with external regulators to manage compliance risk and support strong governance across the business. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering our compliance strategy, providing insight-led analysis and ensuring the business is well-positioned to respond to evolving regulatory requirements.
You’ll help embed a proactive, risk-based approach to compliance, driving consistent ways of working, continuous improvement and a strong control environment to safeguard compliance across the business.
- Leading the modernisation of the Customs & Excise compliance agenda through improved use of data, automation, AI and digital capabilities to drive efficiency, insight and stronger control

Leading, coaching and developing a team of Customs & Excise compliance professionals

Leading the delivery of the company’s Customs & Excise compliance strategy, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements

Providing clear, timely reporting, insight and expert advice to senior stakeholders on compliance risks, trends and performance

Monitoring and interpreting upcoming regulatory and legislative changes and supporting the business to implement required changes

Identifying and mitigating compliance risks through effective controls, processes and governance frameworks.

Developing and implementing robust compliance tools, audit methodologies, monitoring frameworks and digital solutions to strengthen control and visibility across the business

Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to promote awareness, influence process improvement and embed a culture of compliance

Representing the business externally and maintaining effective relationships with HMRC, Irish Revenue and other regulatory bodies

Leading compliance activity relating to Scotch Whisky Verification, ensuring successful audit outcomes and ongoing scheme membership

Coordinating compliance plans and resources, working with regulators and third parties to deliver agreed outcomes

Designing and delivering engaging compliance training programmes across the organisation
You are an experienced Customs & Excise compliance professional with strong technical knowledge of relevant regulations, controls and risk management within a regulated environment.
You’ll be confident working with senior stakeholders and external regulators, able to provide clear guidance, challenge constructively and influence decision-making. You bring proven experience of working across complex operational environments, with the credibility to translate regulatory requirements into practical, business-embedded controls. You also bring a proactive and solutions-focused mindset, combining technical expertise with strong communication and analytical skills.
You are motivated by driving high standards, managing risk effectively and continuously improving processes to support business performance. You are also keen to modernise ways of working through the use of data, analytics, automation and AI to improve compliance oversight, efficiency and decision-making.
