Experienced bar & waiting staff needed at our pretty country pub.
You will have worked on bars before and be knowledgable about everything from pouring the perfect pint to creating the most delicious cup of coffee. You should be experienced in taking food and beverage orders at the table, confident talking about our wine list and super efficient at fulfilling every customer's food and beverage needs.
Initiative and attention to detail are extremely important for this role to ensure our customers always feel like they're in their home away from home. You will need a strong work ethic and stamina to serve up to 250 customers when our large beer garden fills up.
Alongside being a genuine people person who can make our customers always feel safe and welcome no matter what else is going on, you should also be able to work well under pressure and communicate effectively with other members of the team and management. You'll also be able to multitask as you anticipate the changing needs of the business and customers throughout each shift.
Your job will include (but is not limited to): greeting & seating customers, taking orders, overseeing a section and creating a seamless customer journey, pouring and serving a wide range of drinks, serving food to tables, washing up, cleaning down, taking bookings in person and on the phone, upselling products, maintaining high levels of cleanliness throughout the pub and beer garden, plus so much more.
We're a small independent business in a 500 year old building with a reputation for serving great food spanning back to the 1950's. We're famous for pies and still have customers visiting us who tried the original Fleur De Lys pies back in the '50s. In the summer, there's no better place to be than in our pretty beer garden next to the Stratford canal, whilst in the winter we provide the perfect cosy haven with real log fires beneath wooden beams.
We have up to 40 hours per week available, throughout the week and at weekends. More hours will be available in peak season. This is the perfect role to fit around academic studies or for someone wanting to build experience of working in a high volume hospitality setting. You should be over 18 years of age in order to serve alcohol. We'd love to hear more about how you can contribute to our small but perfectly formed team.
N.B.: Due to our rural location there is no public transport, so you will need to be able to travel independently.
