Job Description
Financial Controller SpringRock Ventures
About SpringRock Ventures
SpringRock is owned and managed by sector specialists who have spent their careers in the built environment. We create, grow and invest in businesses across the built environment, combining hands-on operational expertise with disciplined capital deployment. Our approach means joining the management teams of the businesses we back, not sitting on the sidelines.
SpringRock's two principal investments are TECS Group, a specialist water treatment, water hygiene, and building compliance company based in Burntwood, and Construction North Group, a diversified main contractor based in Leeds.
SpringRock is led by its two Directors, Rory Chichester and Oliver Hutley.
The Role
We are looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of financial management and reporting across SpringRock and its portfolio. This is a newly created, full time role reporting directly to the Directors, giving you visibility and influence across the group and its underlying businesses.
Beyond producing management accounts, you will play a broader part in how SpringRock manages capital and supports its portfolio, from financial oversight of existing investments through to input on new opportunities as the portfolio grows.
Location and Travel
This role is Midlands based. You will need to be willing and able to travel regularly to:
- TECS Group's office in Burntwood, Staffs
- Construction North Group's office in Bingley, Leeds
- London, to meet with the Directors
A degree of flexibility on working location is expected given the multi-site nature of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts for CNG and TECS
- Consolidate financial results across TECS Group and Construction North Group for Director reporting
- Work with each portfolio company's finance team to ensure consistent reporting standards and deadlines
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow monitoring across the group
- Prepare board packs and financial commentary for Director and investor review
- Identify and flag financial risks or performance issues at portfolio company level
- Maintain oversight of financial controls and reporting processes across the portfolio
- Support financial due diligence and modelling on new investment opportunities as the portfolio grows
- Help build out SpringRock's own financial infrastructure and reporting processes as a growing investment business
- Act as a trusted financial sounding board to the Directors on portfolio-wide and group-level decisions
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required by the Directors
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Experience producing management accounts, ideally across multiple entities or sites
- Comfortable working with limited day-to-day supervision and reporting directly to business owners
- Strong Excel skills and confident working with different accounting systems
- Clear communicator, able to translate financial detail into practical insight for non-finance stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
- Exposure to transactions or M&A is a strong plus, though not essential. We're just as interested in someone with the right grounding who wants to grow into that side of the role
Package
- £60,000 to £80,000, dependent on experience plus discretionary bonus
- Full time
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Pension scheme
- Car allowance or company car
- The chance to work directly with the owners of a growing investment business, with real influence over how it's run
SpringRock is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of background.
Pay: £60,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
