Hours: 30 Hours Per Week, 4 Days (Hybrid – at least one day in office per week)

We're recruiting a Family Gateway Contact Officer to join Council's Children's Services. This is a key frontline role, ideal for someone motivated, resilient, and passionate about making a difference to families across the city.
About the Role
As a Contact Officer, you'll work within the Family Advice & Support Protection Hub (FASPH), providing high-quality information, advice, and assistance to babies, children, young people, families, and professionals. You'll manage and coordinate multiple referrals, ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing information, advice, and assistance to families and professionals via telephone and email
- Managing and coordinating multiple referrals (no caseload responsibility)
- Building effective working relationships with families, professionals, and partner agencies
- Identifying risks and escalating concerns appropriately to the Principal Social Worker
- Supporting collaborative working across Cardiff Early Help Teams and partner organisations
- Using case management systems and Microsoft Office to record and manage information accurately

- A comprehensive understanding of the needs of babies, children, young people, and families
- Proven experience of building effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport quickly
- Ability to provide clear and accurate information and advice
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Motivation, positivity, and the ability to respond well under pressure
