Farm Shop Supervisor (Hands-On)
Full-Time | Permanent | 5 Days per Week | Weekend Availability Required
We are looking for a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic Farm Shop Supervisor to join the team at Algar Lodge Farm Shop.
This is a hands-on supervisory role where you'll lead by example every day. You will carry out all of the same day-to-day duties as the Farm Shop Assistants, including serving customers, operating the tills, replenishing stock, merchandising, cleaning, and carrying out quality control. Alongside these responsibilities, you will take charge of the team, maintain our high standards, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the farm shop.
This is not an office-based management role. We're looking for someone who enjoys working alongside their team, taking responsibility, and leading from the front.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Farm Shop team by example while remaining actively involved in all daily tasks
- Providing outstanding customer service on the till and shop floor
- Supporting and supervising the team throughout the day, ensuring everyone is working efficiently
- Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational processes to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the farm shop while inspiring the team to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain the highest standards of presentation, organisation, and performance
- Replenishing, pricing, merchandising, and rotating stock to keep displays full, fresh, and attractively presented
- Carrying out regular date checks and maintaining excellent quality control standards
- Ensuring the shop is clean, organised, and presented to the highest standard at all times
- Developing excellent product knowledge to confidently assist and advise customers
- Helping with deliveries, stock management, and general day-to-day operations
- Motivating, coaching, and supporting the team to achieve high standards and deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Assisting with staff training and ensuring company policies and procedures are consistently followed
- Reporting any issues to management and helping to ensure the smooth running of the department
What We're Looking For
- Previous retail and customer service experience is essential
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience is essential
- A confident, approachable leader who enjoys working alongside their team
- Someone who leads by example and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and consistently high standards
- A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach to work
- The ability to motivate others and create a positive team environment
- Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends
